The California Strongest Team Championship is a Strongman Corporation Level 1 contest OPEN to all NAS/Strongman Corporation member athletes.  The three (3) athletes on he winning Team will qualify for the 2017 NAS/Strongman Corporation National Championship in Las Vegas! Weight categories are:  LWW -140lb; MWW – 180lb; HWW 181lb and above; LWM -175lb; WWM -200lb; MWM -231lb; HWM 232lb and above.

Format of Competition:

The California Strongest Team Championship be contested over 4 Disciplines.  Teams’ order in the first Discipline is determined by reverse order of received TEAM entry including all fees.  The order in the subsequent Disciplines shall be the reverse order of OVERALL standing (not previous Discipline).  Ties in the overall standing shall be broken by finish in previous Discipline.  Each TEAM shall consist of three (3) athletes any size/weight, at least one woman and at least one man (i.e. 1 man 2 women, or 2 men 1 woman).  Each team members body weight category determines the weight of the individual athlete’s implements in each discipline (see below) and each team member must participate in all four team disciplines.  Teams may represent their city, their place of work, their gym, a group of friends, or nothing in particular!  This is your choice.  Each team must have a NAME though…keep it clean.

Scoring:

Timed Disciplines shall be hand timed, and distances shall be measured by standard measuring device.  The score in a Discipline shall be determined by placement and based on the number of TEAMs starting in the first Discipline of the contest.  Winner of an event gets 1 point, second place 2 points etc. If an TEAM pass on a Discipline or fail to get a measurable result in a Discipline, he will receive maximum points (i.e. fails to get one repetition in a Discipline for maximum repetitions, fails to lift the opening weight in a max lift, etc.).  The score for a placement shall remain the same through an entire competition (i.e. if the maximum points is 10 points in the first Discipline, it will remain 10 points in subsequent Disciplines even if the field of TEAMs has been reduced by attrition).

Saturday July 8, 2017

8:30AM:  Late weigh-in and check in and NAS/Strongman Corporation Registration

9:30AM:  Rules Meeting:  Athletes and officials

10:00AM:  Strongman Carry Relay

Teams will compete one at a time, but each implement can be performed in any order in a relay fashion:

One Athlete will pick-up a weight implement and “duck walk” it for 40 feet up and back (total 80 feet);

another Athlete will pick-pup a a pair of Farmers Walk implements and carry for 40 feet up and back (total 80 feet);

a third Athlete will pick-up and carry a Super Yoke for 40 feet up and back (total 80 feet).  Multiple set down allowed re allowed on all implements, but no sliding will be allowed! If either TEAM member does not finish their respective segments, the next athlete can be tagged to finish the segment before starting his/her own segment.  Fastest time to complete or furthest overall distance wins.

Each Team has 2 minutes to complete the course.

11:00AM:  Team Overhead Medley

TEAMs will compete one at a time in reverse order of standing: Athlete One will clean and press/jerk a

LOG overhead for reps; while Athlete Two will clean and press/jerk an AXLE overhead for reps; and

Athlete Three will clean and press/jerk a Giant Dumbbell overhead for reps. Each lift must be “cleaned” and lifted overhead.  Each TEAM will have 60 seconds to perform as many overhead lifts as possible. TEAM with most overall completed lifts wins.

12:00PM:  Team Deadlift Medley

TEAMs will compete one at a time in reverse order of standing: Athlete One will deadlift a powerlifting bar loaded with standard plates for reps; while Athlete Two will deadlift an Apollon’s AXLE with Rogue wheels for reps; and Athlete Three will deadlift a Trap Bar (side-handle) for reps. Each TEAM will have 60 seconds to perform as many overhead lifts as possible. TEAM with most overall completed lifts wins.  NO straps allowed.

1:00PM:   Beast War Team Challenge

Teams will compete one at a time reverse order of standing:  Each Team member will participate in moving (by any means, although kegs cannot be rolled) the most objects from starting area to finish area (40 feet apart) in the least amount of time.  Most objects moved within 2-minute time limit or the fastest Team complete al objects wins.  Objects will include weighted sled, aluminum blocks, sand bags, anchor chain, kegs etc.

2:00PM:  MAS Wrestling Clinic open to all participants

 California OPEN MAS Wrestling Championship for Novice and Open

Format of Competition:

Athletes will compete in double elimination type tournament multiple weight categories (exact format to be determined based on number athletes entered in each weight category).  Each match is best two of three bouts, athletes seeded based on overall standing.  Weight categories are: MEN’s weight categories are – 60kg, 70 kg, 80kg, 90kg, 105kg, 125kg, and 125kg+; WOMEN’s weight categories are –55kg, 65kg, 75kg, 85kg and 85kg+.  Weight/age categories with 2 or less athletes merged with next higher weight category; weight categories with 3-5 athletes conducted in Round Robin format; and weight categories with 6 or more athletes conducted in a Double Elimination format to be determined based on number of athletes competing in a weight category.

AWARDS:              1st – 3rd in each weight category

The Visegrip Viking™ Armlifting Challenge

Open to all and contested in two weight division for MEN, lightweight under 200lb and OPEN, as well as two WOMEN division, lightweight under 150lb and OPEN.  We will feature World Record attempts in 3 of 5 disciplines contested.     

AWARDS: 1st – 3rd overall in each division

Ties will be broken by bodyweight (less weight scores higher). For purpose of determining overall winner and 2nd and 3rd place awards, the score in a Discipline shall be determined by placement (1 point for First Place, 2 points for Second Place etc.).   If an Athlete pass on a Discipline or fail to get a measurable result in a Discipline, he or she will receive maximum points (i.e. fails to get one repetition in a Discipline for maximum repetitions, fails to lift the opening weight in a max lift, etc.).  The maximum points is the total number of competitors plus one and shall remain the same through an entire competition (i.e., if the maximum points is 13 points in the discipline with the most competitors, the maximum points shall remain in subsequent Disciplines even if the field of athletes has been reduced by attrition).

10:00 AM: IronMind Rolling Thunder® Last Man Standing

The athletes (reverse order of entry forms received) will each attempt to dead lift with one hand the IronMind Rolling Thunder®, starting weight appropriate for weight class and increasing with each attempt till there is ONE MAN and ONE WOMAN STANDING.  Time starts when the implement is loaded, and athletes have 60 seconds to commence the lift.  No grip aids other than chalk allowed. Athlete can use either hand, and must grip the center of the Rolling Thunder handle.  Thumb less or locked thumb grip not allowed. Each athlete must lift the opening weight to be in the competition, but may “pass” on subsequent weights as long as he does so prior to his turn.  Athletes must await referee’s down signal before returning the implement back to the platform all the while maintaining the grip/contact with implement.

10:45 AM:  IronMind Double Overhand Apollon’s Axle™ Deadlift Last Man Standing

The athletes (reverse order of entry forms received) will each attempt to deadlift the IronMind Apollon’s Axle™ loaded with standard plates, starting weight will be appropriate for weight class and increasing with each attempt till there is ONE MAN (WOMAN) STANDING.  Time starts when Axle is loaded, and athletes have 60 seconds to commence the lift.  No grip aids other than chalk allowed. Athletes must grip axle with knuckles on both facing away from body (double overhand grip). Thumb less or locked thumb grip not allowed.  Otherwise, standard power lifting rules (including Sumo style) apply; resting Axle on the thighs or any downward movement will NOT be allowed.  Athletes must await referee’s down signal before returning the Axle back to the platform all the while maintaining the grip/contact with Axle.  Each athlete must lift the opening weight to be in the competition, but may “pass” on subsequent weights as long as he does so prior to his turn.

11:30 AM: IronMind Captains of Crush® Silver Bullet™

The athlete (reverse order of overall standing) will attempt to crush and then hold a 19mm CoC Silver Bullet™ between the handles of a No. 1, 2, 3 or 4 Captains of Crush (CoC) Gripper (women will use No. T, 1.or 2) and hold it until it falls out or the athlete’s hand opens.  Athlete’s hand must be vertical position (not supinated or pronated), in front of athlete’s body, and clear of athlete’s other hand. A 2.5kg weight (CoC Silver Bullet disc) will be attached to the CoC Silver Bullet and the best time wins. No grip aids other than chalk allowed.

12:15 PM: «Grenade» (5”) Lift Last Man Standing

The athletes (reverse order of entry forms received) will each attempt to dead lift with one hand a “grenade” with 5” diameter.  Time starts when the implement is loaded, and athletes have 60 seconds to commence the lift.  No grip aids other than chalk allowed. Athlete can use either hand, and must grip with the palm covering top of the globe.  Each athlete must lift the opening weight to be in the competition, but may “pass” on subsequent weights as long as he does so prior to his turn.  Athletes must await referee’s down signal before returning the implement back to the platform all the while maintaining the grip/contact with implement.

1:00 PM:  Saxon Bar Deadlift with Apollon’s Wheels Last Man Standing

The athletes (reverse order of entry forms received) will each attempt to deadlift the Saxon bar (3” wide rectangular tube) loaded with Apollon’s wheels and standard plates, starting weight will be appropriate for weight class and increasing with each attempt till there is ONE MAN (WOMAN) STANDING.  Time starts when bar is loaded, and athletes have 60 seconds to commence the lift.  No grip aids other than chalk allowed. Athletes must grip bar with knuckles on both facing away from body (double overhand grip). Otherwise, standard power lifting rules (including Sumo style) apply; resting bar on the thighs or any downward movement will NOT be allowed.  Athletes must await referee’s down signal before returning the bar back to the platform all the while maintaining the grip/contact with bar.  Each athlete must lift the opening weight to be in the competition, but may “pass” on subsequent weights as long as he does so prior to his turn.
