Visegrip Viking Armlifting (Grip) Challenge
Open to all American and International strongmen and grip specialists.  We will feature World Record attempts in all  of the 6 disciplines/events contested.     

 AWARDS: 1st Overall (Awards plus IronMind Gift Certificates) in Men’s and Women’s Divisions; and 1st – 3rd Place Award in each individual discipline in each weight category.  BODYWEIGHT CATEGORIES for Rolling Thunder Deadlift, DOH Axle Deadlift, Pinch Grip Block and Country Crush Lift (NO body weight divisions in Captain of Crush Silver Bullet Hold and IronMind Hub Lift.

Men: Lightweight -90kg/198lb; Middleweight –110kg/242lb; and Heavyweight 110kg/242lb plus

Women:  Lightweight -75kg/165lb; and Heavyweight 75kg/165lb plus

Please NOTE that we will combine weight categories if we do NOT have at least 3 registered athletes in any one weight catgory by registration deadline of April 15th.

Format of Competition:

Scoring:

Ties will be broken by bodyweight (less weight scores higher).  Overall Scoring: Percentage based scoring will be used.  For example, if 100 kg wins the Rolling Thunder, that athlete will receive 100 points.  If the second-place athlete lifts 90kg, they will receive 90 points.  The winner is the athlete with the most points at the end of the contest.  Should two athletes tie, the athlete with the lower body weight at the time of weigh ins will place higher.

9:00AM -10:00am      – Athlete check-in and weigh in

11:30AM         – IronMind® Rolling Thunder Single Arm Deadlift

The athletes will each attempt to dead lift with one hand the IronMind Rolling Thunder®, starting weight selected by lifter and rising bar (max 4 attempts) till there is ONE MAN STANDING.  Time starts when the implement is loaded, and athletes have 60 seconds to commence the lift. There is no limit to how many times the lifter may try to complete the lift within timelimit.  No grip aids other than chalk allowed. Athlete can use either hand, and must grip the center of the Rolling Thunder handle.  Thumb less or locked thumb grip not allowed. 2:00PM           – IronMind® Double Overhand Apollon’s Axle™ Deadlift

The athletes will each attempt to deadlift the IronMind Apollon’s Axle™ loaded with standard plates, starting weight selected by lifter and rising bar (max 4 attempts) till there is ONE MAN STANDING.  Time starts when Axle is loaded, and athletes have 60 seconds to commence the lift.  There is no limit to how many times the lifter may try to complete the lift within timelimit.  No grip aids other than chalk allowed. Athletes must grip axle with knuckles on both facing away from body (double overhand grip). Thumb less or locked thumb grip not allowed.  Otherwise, standard power lifting rules (including Sumo style) apply; resting Axle on the thighs or any downward movement will NOT be allowed.  Athletes must await referee’s down signal before returning the Axle back to the platform all the while maintaining the grip/contact with Axle. 3:00PM          Audience Participation:  IronMind® Rolling Thunder Single Arm Deadlift (open to all FitExpo attendees)

4:00PM           IronMind Captains of Crush® Silver Bullet™ Hold

The athlete (reverse order of entry form received) will attempt to crush and then hold a 19mm CoC Silver Bullet™ between the handles of a No. 3 or 2 Captains of Crush (CoC) Gripper (women will use No. 2 or 1) and hold it until it falls out or the athlete’s hand opens.  Athlete’s hand must be vertical position (not supinated or pronated), in front of athlete’s body, and clear of athlete’s other hand. A 2.5kg weight (CoC Silver Bullet disc) will be attached to the CoC Silver Bullet and the best time wins. No grip aids other than chalk.

11:30AM         -IronMind® Crushed-to-Dust!® Certification Challenge (open to all FitExpo

attendees)

1:15PM           – IronMind HUB Lift

The athletes will each attempt to dead lift with one hand the IronMind HUB, starting weight selected by lifter and rising bar (max 4 attempts) till there is ONE MAN STANDING.  The lifter starts the lift with all 5 fingertips of the lifting hand touching the plate at the base  of the Hub.  It is permissible that the fingers rotate somewhat from this position during the course of the lift, but holding the Hub as if grabbing a doorknob is not allowed. The lifter must stand up straight; once standing straight the lifter waits for a down signal from the referee before returning the weight to the ground.  Contact must be maintained by the lifter’s hand and the Hub until the weight is resting on the floor.  The referee then indicates if the lift was accepted.   The lifter has 1 minute to complete the lift after his/her name is called; during that minute, there is no limit to how many times the lifter may try to complete the lift. The athletes will each attempt to dead lift with one hand the IronMind Pinch Block handle attached to loading pin, starting weight selected by lifter and rising bar (max 4 attempts) till there is ONE MAN STANDING  The lifter must stand up straight; once standing straight the lifter waits for a down signal from the referee before returning the weight to the ground.  Contact must be maintained by the lifter’s hand and the Pinch Block handle until the weight is resting on the floor. The athletes will each attempt to dead lift with tow hands the Country Crush handle attached to loading pin, starting weight selected by lifter and rising bar (max 4 attempts) till there is ONE MAN STANDING,  Thumb less or locked thumb grip not allowed. The lifter must stand up straight; once standing straight the lifter waits for a down signal from the referee before returning the weight to the ground.  Contact/grip must be maintained until the weight is resting on the floor. The referee then indicates if the lift was accepted.   The lifter has 1 minute to complete the lift after his/her name is called; during that minute, there is no limit to how many times the lifter may try to complete the lift. If the lifter misses, he/she is out!  Each athlete picks his or her first and subsequent attempts.
