The 2017 Odd Haugen Florida Strongman Challenge is a Strongman Corporation Level II contest OPEN to all member athletes. The top two athletes* in each Weight Division will qualify for the 2017 National Championship and the 1st place winner of each Weight Division will receive FREE entry into 2017 National Championships in Las Vegas, NV. THIS IS THE LAST CHANCE TO QUALIFY FOR 2017 Nationals. Weight Divisions are: Light Weight Women (LWW) – 140lb; Middle Weight Woman (MWW) – 180lb; Open Women (OW) 180.5lb and above; Light Weight Men (LWM) – 175lb; Welter Weight Men (WWM) -200lb; Middle Weight Men (MWM) -231lb; Open Men (OM) 231.5 and above.
* There must be a minimum of 5 athletes in a Weight Division for the top 2 athletes to qualify for Nationals.
SCULPTED Trophies for 1st through 3th place weight class finishers in strongman/woman, as well as separte awards for top three finishers in mas wrestling and armlifting events.

Format of Competition:
The 2017 Odd Haugen Florida Strongman Challenge will be contested over 6 Disciplines. Athletes’ order and pairing in the first Discipline is determined by reverse order of received entry, and announced at the Athletes’ Rules Meeting prior to the commencement of the contest. The order in the subsequent Disciplines shall be the reverse order of OVERALL standing (not previous Discipline). Ties in the overall standing shall be broken by finish in previous Discipline. If a Discipline is contested in pairs or groups, the “lane” assignments must be uniformly applied “odd” in left lane, “even” in right lane to the all pairs.
Discipline 2 MAS Combat and Discipline 4 DOH Axle Deadlift will receive award top 3 in each weight category.
Timed Disciplines shall be hand timed, and distances shall be measured by standard measuring device. The score in a Discipline shall be determined by placement and based on the number of Athletes starting in the first Discipline of the contest. Winner of an event gets 1 point, second place 2 points etc. If an Athlete pass on a Discipline or fail to get a measurable result in a Discipline, he will receive maximum points (i.e. fails to get one repetition in a Discipline for maximum repetitions, fails to lift the opening weight in a max lift, etc.). The score for a placement shall remain the same through an entire competition (i.e. if the maximum points is 16 points in the first Discipline, it will remain 16 points in subsequent Disciplines even if the field of athletes has been reduced by attrition).

9:00 AM – Late weigh-in and check in and Strongman Corporation Registration, Odd Haugen Florida Strongman Challenge, Visegrip Viking Armlifting and MAS Wrestling Tournament.
9:30 AM – Rules Meeting: Athletes and officials
10:30 AM –Farmers Carry
The athletes, competing in pairs will each attempt to pick-up a weighted Farmers implements and carry for 60 feet up and back without dropping, set downs allowed only before crossing starting/turning line. Fastest time or furthest distance wins.
12:30 PM Combat MAS™: MAS Wrestling Tournament (part of Strongman/Strongwoman Challenge)
Athletes will compete in double elimination type tournament (exact format to be determined based on number
athletes entered in each weight category). Each match is best two of three bouts, athletes seeded based on overall
standing. If 5 or less in weight category – Round Robin. Separate awards for top 3 in each weight category.
2:00 PM – Mike Bartos’ Stone of Steel™ to Shoulder for Reps
The athletes competing in pairs will each attempt to lift and load a Stone of Steel™ to Shoulder for as many times as possible within in a 60-sec time limit. Tacky is not allowed. Most completed REPs win.
3:00 PM – IronMind Double Overhand Apollon’s Axle™ Deadlift (part of Strongman/Strongwoman Challenge)
The athletes will each attempt to deadlift the IronMind Apollon’s Axle™ loaded with standard plates, starting weight will be appropriate for weight class and increasing with each attempt till there is ONE MAN (WOMAN) STANDING. No grip aids other than chalk allowed. Athletes must grip axle with knuckles on both facing away from body (double overhand grip). Thumb less or locked thumb grip not allowed. Otherwise, standard power lifting rules (including Sumo style) apply; resting Axle on the thighs or any downward movement will NOT be allowed. Athletes must await referee’s down signal before returning the Axle back to the platform all the while maintaining the grip/contact with Axle. Each athlete must lift the starting weight to be in the competition, but may “pass” on subsequent weights as long as he does so prior to his turn. 9:30 AM – Rules Meeting: Athletes and officials
10:45 AM – Overhead Press Medley
The athletes, competing in pairs will attempt to clean/continental from platform then press/jerk to locked arms in order four (4) different implements: Bartos’ Keg; Log; Axle; and Circus Dumbbell. Athlete must await referee’s “down” signal before returning IMPLEMENT to platform. Each athlete has 60 seconds to complete as many implements as possible. Most or fastest completed lifts wins.
1:00 PM – Bartos’ Super Yoke
The athletes, competing in pairs will each attempt to lift and carry a yoke on their shoulders for 60 feet up and back. Set downs allowed, only before crossing starting/turning line. The athlete will have 60-second time limit to complete course. Furthest or fastest time to complete course wins.
2:00 PM – Final Rounds: Combat MAS™ to determine Strongman/Woman Challenge overall winners and MAS Wrestling Tournament
4:00PM – Award Ceremony.
